YOU CAN BE A PILOT IN JUST 20 HOURS

Freedom Flight Pty Ltd is Tasmania's only Civil Aviation Authority approved Recreational Flying School, owned and operated by Eugene Reid (12,000 hours experience).  We operate seven days per week, weather permitting.

You will learn to fly in a two seat, dual control Australian made and designed Jabiru Aircraft [as pictured, Centre].  We also teach in an amphibious Lightwing float plane.  Air Experience Flights are only $75.00 [to help you decide if you want to experience the freedom of flight].  From then on dual flight instruction will cost $150.00 an hour; the average dual lesson is for 3/4 of an hour costing $105.00.  We also teach in a Thruster Ultralight (pictured behind the Jabiru).  A pilot certificate can be obtained with a minimum time of 20 hrs, or a 5-hour endorsement if you already hold a Glider or G.A. license.  Training is available up to instructor standard.

Students need to join Recreational Aviation Australia and obtain a Student Pilot's Certificate.  You may undergo up to three hours of flight training before applying for a certificate.  Health needs to be of the equivalent to that required for a motor vehicle license.  The minimum age for a person to obtain a licence is 15 years.  There is no maximum age.  Dress according to the weather conditions with light shoes, no thongs or heavy work boots.

This means you can obtain an ultralight aircraft certificate for as little as $3,000.  This can be achieved on a full time basis, or spread out over a longer period as your time and finances permit.  After you have obtained a certificate you are free to fly without the "red tape" of General Aviation.  Aircraft are available for hire, $100.00 an hour.   Accommodation is available on Airport and two bedroom, Apartment available 2006.

All flying time counts hour for hour towards a General Aviation Licence.  You may also use Government Licenced Aerodromes.  This opens up most of the State.

As well as being the ultimate recreational vehicle.  Recreational aircraft also have many agricultural uses.  For the farmer they can replace the horse or motorcycle and save many hours or days of work when checking fences, water, stock etc.  They can also be used for aerial photography, to record the magnificent scenery.  Freedom Flight Pty Ltd, are agents for Jabiru, Australian Lightwing, Sabre, Thruster and Cobra Arrow Aircraft.

We look forward to introducing you to the wonderful world of recreational flying.  To experience this magnificent feeling for yourself, please book a flight at George Town Airport, or Devonport on Mondays, Devonport on Wednesday and Hobart on Thursdays.  For more information please feel free to phone [03] 63 824700 or write to PO Box 42 George Town 7253.            Price subject to change.
